The Company

We have been performing in Dumfries since 1922, originally formed as Dumfries Musical and Operatic Society (DMOS) changing its name at the beginning of 2008 to Dumfries Musical Theatre Company (DMTC). In 1972, we purchased a former church which was being used as a joiner’s workshop and converted it into a 91 seat theatre, The Brigend Theatre – which is now our home.

We usually perform two musicals each year – at least one in our own theatre and sometimes at other venues such as The Theatre Royal Dumfries.  In addition, we often hold concerts and fundraisers at The Brigend, devoted to songs and scenes from the West End to Broadway!

There are also smaller events, external hires, and social gatherings with which Members are involved.

Here at DMTC, closely following the desire to perform is the social aspect of the Company.  With a cross-section of ages, backgrounds and personalities we are keen to enjoy good company!

From visiting the neighbouring pub after rehearsals, to fund raising and community events, the annual BBQ, the beach party, the annual car treasure hunt and other ad-hoc drinks and events throughout the year; having fun is definitely important to DMTC. You can take part in none, some or all of our activities as well as being involved with shows.
